Job Summary: As the General Manager (Unit Manager), you will be responsible for effectively managing the Glasgow business unit, providing full leadership and taking operational accountability for the unit performance and P&L achievement. You will also be responsible for overseeing and ensuring unit compliance with requirements related to Health & Safety, Security and Customs. In this role you will also oversee the management of the Edinburgh unit. Acting as the face of Gate Gourmet Glasgow, you will actively research and understand the local business arena, local culture and understanding where the unit sits within the local framework to adapt where required. You will foster positive relationships with all customers to drive forward business opportunities while justifying proposals/business cases for expenditure to improve the business unit . In the role, you will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing and guiding your direct reports to work together as a high performing team while continually working with HR and Learning & Development teams to develop and improve the skills of the employees. You will also act as a mentor and coach for your management team Demonstrating financial acumen, you will ensure budgets are created accurately, communicated out, responsibility aligned and budget delivered. You will identify and lead where appropriate, continuous and process improvement initiatives that drive the unit forward while taking full ownership to lead compliance adherence of the unit to all regulatory, customer and internal policies and procedures. Working with your HR Business Partner, you will be responsible for annual salary reviews, ensuring that you balance engagement, reward and cost effectiveness and keep competitive advantage while constantly monitoring recruitment to ensure you have the right staffing levels at all times. You will also identify root causes of any situation which occurs and create a robust action plan to work through to a robust solution while putting into practice operational policies and decisions that come from the Executive Management Team, maintaining alignment with company and divisional policy and procedures Qualifications and Experience: Education: A foundation degree, HND or degree in a relevant subject, Logistics, supply chain management, transport management, business management or suitable relevant experience and demonstrated appropriate level of acumen. Work Experience: Previous experience of managing a busy, dynamic unit in a production/manufacturing or food environment Experience in managing a multi-functional team Proven track record of managing a P&L/budget successfully year on year Proven track record of taking accountability in their work environment for decisions, projects and activities Demonstrable evidence of understanding and implementing continuous improvement activities Skills & Knowledge: Must demonstrate integrity, confidentiality and professionalism at all times Ability to work efficiently using own initiative to resolve issues Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, Good working knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales, prioritising as appropriate Proactive and positive/flexible attitude This job was originally posted as www.caterer.com/job/89800710
