Western Isles Hospital, Macaulay Road, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, HS1 2AF LOCUM CONSULTANT PHYSICIAN IN GENERAL MEDICINE Salary £82,669 - £109,849 per annum Plus Distant Island Allowance £1,074 per annum Fixed Term post - 12 months The Western Isles is located 40 miles off the North West coast of Scotland, and is 130 miles long from the Butt of Lewis in the North to the Isle of Barra in the South. The population of the Western Isles is approximately 26,500. The Health Board employs over 1,000 staff, excluding GPs and Dentists. There is easy access to the mainland, with regular flights between Stornoway and Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register, with Licence to Practise, or be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the date of interview. Applicants would be fully supported whilst working toward this. The post is for 12 PAs (8 PAs, 2 SPAs plus 2 EPAs per week) subject to agreement of a satisfactory job plan, plus an 8% availability allowance. However, the successful candidate may decide to work 10 programmed activities a week on an annualised basis, and be granted an additional 8 weeks of time in lieu a year which will be recognised in the Job Plan. The Terms and Conditions of service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004.
