Overview

Process Engineering Manager needed to join an Engineering company I am working with based in Malaysia. This is a permanent position offering a salary dependant on experience. Based in the capital city, Kuala Lumpur, this is a really exciting role to join a strong expat team working on high-value Pharma & Food projects. The living costs are relatively cheap and it is a beautiful city, benefiting from low tax rates (typically 20-25%). This is a once in a life-time opportunity that is offering a competitive salary, with a fairly easy visa process then role could be finalised in the next 4 weeks. As the Process Engineering Manager, you will be reporting to the Engineering Manager, while managing a team of engineers, which include the Senior Process Engineer, Process Engineer, Junior Process Engineer, Mechanical Engineer and CAD Technician. The Process Engineering Manager leads the process engineering function, providing technical and management oversight to the process engineering team in order to meet company objectives. Process engineering is responsible for engineering design of process and utilities systems across a range of industrial projects, with primary focus on Food & Beverage and Pharmaceutical manufacturing industries. Duties & Responsibilities Oversee activities of the process engineering team from a technical and management perspective across all design phases (conceptual design, basic design, detailed design), as well as implementation phases where required (procurement, construction/installation support and commissioning). Provide leadership and mentoring to team members, facilitating development of their skills and experience. Identify and execute opportunities to enhance the skills and experience of all team members, allowing them to grow and take on additional responsibilities as time progresses. Assign process engineering resources to projects according to the skill set of individuals and complexity of the task. Be involved hands on as necessary to ensure that requirements are well understood, appropriate solutions/options are identified, and projects are always progressing satisfactorily. Review and approve all design documentation generated by the process engineering team to ensure it is complete and accurate prior to submission to clients. Provide guidance and leadership to colleagues regarding technical aspects, thoroughness and detail orientation, ensuring that high quality engineering solutions are delivered efficiently and on time. Create and maintain connections with relevant process and utilities equipment vendors where this adds value to the engineering solutions developed by process engineering. Comply with and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Engineering Operations Quality Management System and Company Values. Qualification Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. 12 years of experience related to the engineering design of manufacturing facilities, including food & beverage and/or pharmaceutical industries. Skills and experience include: Proven track record in design and execution of medium to large projects involving multiple process units with a significant degree of complexity, both “brown field and green field” projects, from concept design/front end engineering design, to full realisation. Demonstrated technical expertise in relation to process engineering – including development of process flow diagrams, mass & energy balance, process and utilities calculations, process & instrumentation diagrams, equipment specifications, etc. Working knowledge of other engineering disciplines in relation to their design requirements and interfaces with process engineering. Expertise in design and familiarity with operation of manufacturing facilities, including food & beverage and/or pharmaceutical industries. Experience with both technical and personal leadership of engineering staff. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, REVIT, Plant 3D Software.
