On 1 April 2013 the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) became responsible for the prudential regulation and supervision of banks, building societies, credit unions, insurers and major investment firms. The PRA was created by the Financial Services Act (2012) and is part of the Bank of England. As a directorate of the PRA, Regulatory Operations supports and compliments the work of the Supervision areas of the Bank and ensures that the PRA can execute its operational responsibilities to ensure the smooth running of the organisation. Regulatory Operations is split into five main divisions: * Authorisations * PRA Chief Operating Officer's Unit * PRA Governance Function * Senior Advisors * Supervisory Oversight Function Department Overview The Authorisations function is responsible for delivering an effective Authorisations framework for the PRA, ensuring compliance with various UK statutory and European Directive requirements, in accordance with the PRA's risk tolerance and decision-making framework. We are recognised, within and outside the Bank, as the centre of excellence for Authorisations knowledge, providing value-added advice, guidance and direction on all regulatory transaction issues, always ensuring high quality outputs. We successfully combine deep technical knowledge and practical implementation. We are at the forefront of developments affecting Authorisations by making judgements to arrive at decisions in partnership with supervision and others on behalf of the PRA, and ensuring the appropriate management of critical events in a firm's lifecycle. Job description We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join us; someone with good analytical and stakeholder management skills, they should be able to demonstrate the capacity to be flexible in their approach, capable of building a strong foundation of technical skills across the regulatory transactions forum, and to have the desire/curiosity to promote and share their knowledge across the Division, and with key stakeholders as appropriate. This role offers the opportunity to be part of the newly created Cross-Division Processes Team in Authorisations, successful candidates will take on a varied and dynamic portfolio of work in a collaborative working environment. You will have the opportunity to work on time-limited assignments within Authorisations process teams (New Auths, SMR, VoPs, Passporting, Waivers, Change in Control) and on specific projects, all directly related to the Division's priorities. This work will add to your existing knowledge base and provide the opportunity to develop new skills. When on assignment to one of the Authorisations process teams (New Auths; SMR; VoPs; Passporting; Waivers; Change in Control), you will work primarily within the team responsible for assessing and leading on a process. All these teams work closely with Supervision, Policy, Legal and the FCA on a wide range of applications. This is a really exciting opportunity to work across multiple processes and to develop your knowledge of both Authorisations and Supervisory areas of the Bank. This role will include: * Effectively and expertly managing applications and providing support and guidance to colleagues when required. We want individuals to play an active part in how we deal with these applications, seeking to find ways to continually improve the way we work. * Using sound analysis to make judgements in assessing applications, making recommendations, and providing effective challenge to internal and external stakeholders. * Producing clear and concise recommendations to decision makers and committees on complex applications. Your analytical skills will be brought to the fore in deciding what information is relevant to reach the right conclusions on cases. * Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a professional and credible manner. We know working collaboratively is fundamental to our success. * Representing Authorisations and the wider Bank, presenting the views of Authorisations and the Bank in a way that is credible and authoritative. When on assignment to a project , you will work alongside the Division's leadership team and Operations Team to assess the impact of various change and development projects and help to deliver the best possible outcome for the Division. You will champion change and the benefits of that change, designing tools and processes necessary for effective delivery.
