Overview
Discover the perfect work/life balance - then combine it with genuine job satisfaction. At Essex County Council, we are proud to support a highly skilled team of employees - many of whom are local residents. Working together to achieve great results for their communities and neighbours, our people have a shared vision of delivering exceptional public services. It will therefore come as no surprise that our current transformation programme in which we are seeking to make the most of our resources with partnership initiatives and improved ways of working, is being widely welcomed. And when you join us, you could be at the heart of this fascinating work. We are currently seeking a dynamic individual who will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting the progress of mechanical engineering elements (e.g. heating, ventilation, water, gas, boiler plant rooms, etc.) of construction projects on site, working collaboratively with internal and external construction partners to engage in all value engineering exercises and delivering and undertaking inspections and reviews of contractor's design and installation solutions, ensuring that engineering systems comply with Council specifications, statutory requirements and industry best practice. Educated to HNC/City and guilds in engineering trades, you will have extensive knowledge of site based engineering installations and a deep understanding of current engineering standards, statutory provisions and building regulations. You will be able to evidence your analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as good leadership skills and an ability to build strong relationships and partnerships which encourage collaboration and engender delivery. You should have experience of influencing and delivering change in complex and challenging situations. In turn, we can offer you a highly competitive package that includes access to our desirable pension scheme, life assurance (of three times your salary), generous annual leave - plus the option to buy additional holiday. Optional benefits such as tax-free savings on childcare and discounted health and dental care are also available, and we will encourage you to develop your skills with ongoing training opportunities. Crucially, we know that there is more to life than work. We are a motivated and enthusiastic team - but we want you to find an exceptional work/life balance. As such, you will be encouraged to make the most of our commitment to flexible working arrangements, including the chance to work from home. So if you want a better quality of life - complemented by a high degree of job satisfaction - then we would be delighted to welcome you to our friendly and inclusive team.
