Overview

We have an opportunity available for a Finance Director to join our team based at our head office in Brighouse with a willingness to travel to other sites in the North East and the Midlands.You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return,we are offering acompetitive package including a salary o f £50,000 - £55,000 per annum depending on experience. Community Transport was established in the Midlands in 1966 and operates three strands of service (accessible transport, furniture re-use and training) across the West Midlands and northeast of England. The Charity employs just over 100 people and is supported by over 60 volunteers. About the role: As our Finance Director ,you will be required to provide overall strategic leadership of the financial accounting function for Community Transport, producing management accounts for internal use, preparing data for the statutory accounts and audit, and working with senior managers in managing the financial resources of the organisation. You will attend the Trustee Board meetings and will be expected to lead on behalf of the business in the meetings of the Finance Sub-Committee (which reports to the Board and is chaired by a Trustee) Key duties of our Finance Director will include: - Produce timely, accurate and clear monthly management accounts, identifying performance and variance against budgets and including forecasting - Positively challenge, support and work with other members of the Executive Management Team and operational managers in managing their budgets, whilst maintaining a positive working relationship - Lead the annual budget setting exercise and to contribute to business planning - Prepare and submit returns and payments to HMRC in respect of VAT and Corporate Tax - Be responsible for the preparation, review and maintenance of an asset register - Contribute to the review and improvement of internal processes, working closely with the Corporate Services Team and Operational Directors/Managers - Prepare and present finance reports to the Board of Trustees - Work closely with the Chief Executive in managing the financial resources of the organisation - Support the development and learning of non-finance colleagues across the organisation - Advise on the use of assets and reserves in line with the Strategic Plan - Fulfil a leadership role as part of the senior management team - Continuously research and keep up to date with changes in Charity Legislation applicable to Finance and Accounts functions. What we are looking for in o ur ideal Finance Director : - Accounting skills covering management accounting, financial accounting and Statutory / Charity accounting including external audit liaison - Accounting Qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) or qualified by experience - At least two years' experience of working at a senior management level and of reporting directly to Trustees/Directors - Experience of Budget and Financial Planning preparation and monitoring - Experience of working at a senior level and of being involved in business development - Experience of dealing with statutory functions including Companies House and Charities Commission returns as well as Pensions, VAT and Corporation Tax - Ability to develop financial policies and manuals Office culture and fit are very important to us.
