Overview
Enigma People Solutions is searching for a Laser Engineer for our client’s growing manufacturing team in Edinburgh. As part of the manufacturing team, you will contribute to the laser development process from ground up, building and testing laser assemblies, going through Quality Assurance processes, training less experienced members of the team and taking part in the manufacturing improvement processes. Our client develops and produces novel CW Single Frequency, Diode Pumped Solid State (DPSS) lasers for demanding applications in: Leading edge research LifeSciences and associated BioMedical areas Semiconductor metrology Environmental Metrology, and many others They are the only company to be able to configure Continuous Wave, Single Frequency Lasers to uniquely emit at any wavelength covering the spectral range from Near Infra-Red to Ultra-Violet from a single universal technology platform, using proprietary patented BRaMMS technology. This novel patented technology provides reliable, cost effective, compact all-solid-state and class leading solutions for both well established and currently unavailable, but demanded, wavelengths. This opens up applications in portable and remotely controlled systems and devices, which have been never before considered feasible. The role will involve • Timely assembly and testing of all company’s products • Laser set up using sophisticated optical techniques • Laser calibration using electronic control • Fault diagnosis • Introduction of assembly and product improvements • Implementation of manufacturing process improvements • Completing and improvement laser production documentation • Analytical result monitoring and reporting • Training of other team members • Involvement in internal R&D • Following clean room procedures and safety guidelines To be of interest you will be able to demonstrate a Master’s Degree level in Science/Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree level in Science/Engineering with 5 years of experience in laser technology or related fields. • Good understanding of optics and laser principles • Good knowledge and hands-on experience in general mechanics and electronics • Extensive experience of aligning and testing opto-electronic/laser equipment • Ability to work in laser manufacturing lab without detailed instructions • Ability to work on your own and as a part of a team • Problem solving and • Strong innovation, analytical and diagnostic skills • Multi-tasking and prioritizing in order to achieve tight deadlines • Good written and verbal communication skills
