The Company Nigel Wright is delighted to be working with a market leading manufacturing business based in Tyne and Wear. They are looking to recruit a Senior Engineer into their existing Project Engineering team. The Role This role comes with significant progression opportunities to senior management. Ideally our client are looking for a candidate with the ability to progress to Engineering Manager in the near future. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will provide Engineering expertise to an established and highly motivated team. Responsibilities include: To provide technical lead/support on New Product Introduction and support the NPI Process. To provide technical lead/support for machine and process development projects. To push process knowledge forward via focused studies and a data driven/analysis approach. To lead and manage mechanical design projects. To perform engineering analysis as required. To support customer's technical representatives to develop solutions that can be manufactured by the company. To introduce new knowledge and capabilities to the company. To liaise with subcontractors for engineering services that are required. To lead project teams as required. The Person The key attributes which successful candidates must demonstrate are: Ability to collaborative effectively Ability to extract and interpret relevant information from other engineers of all levels Be highly motivated and driven to complete tasks A genuine passion for working towards complex Engineering solutions Ability to contribute new ideas, thinking flexibly and creatively The ability to influence and motivate peers Confidence to communicate effectively with customers Excellent Project Management skills This is a hands-on engineering position, focusing mainly on NPI, manufacturability and process improvements, in what is a complex, rapidly changing and unpredictable manufacturing process. This is an ideal role for an Engineer who is already operating at a Senior level or with extensive experience at Engineer level, who enjoys continually learning in a dynamic environment. Suitable candidates will have experience in a material forming process - eg metals (machining, pressing, CNC or similar); plastics (injection moulding, thermoforming, extrusion or similar). Ideally a degree qualification in Engineering, Materials Science or related subject, but open to time served engineers qualified to HNC/ HND level. Experience gained in bespoke, project based, design led manufacturing, supplying into a highly regulated market such as aerospace, oil and gas, nuclear, defence.
