POSITION SUMMARY GHD's team in Newcastle upon Tyne is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Structural Engineer with experience in the design of industrial and port related projects. Particular experience in the power & energy and/or marine sectors would be an advantage. Based at our office in Newcastle, you will report to the Engineering Manager and work closely with our highly skilled team and our clients to successfully deliver projects and provide high value consultancy services. The Newcastle office operates in both the UK and international marketplaces. The successful candidate will be required from time to time to undertake short to medium term overseas assignments. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Detailed design of reinforced concrete and steel structures. * Design audit of third party designs. * Concept and feasibility studies. * Preparation of specifications and technical information. Experience of the preparation and implementation of Minimum Functional Specifications would be an advantage. * Structural inspection and assessment. * A knowledge of deep foundation design, and the design of marine structures would be an advantage. TECHNICAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED * Relevant engineering degree. * Chartered Engineer or near Chartered status (MICE, MIStructE). * A minimum of 8 years' experience. * Previous experience of working overseas and in the international marketplace an advantage. PERSONAL COMPETENCIES : * Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently. * Project management skills and ownership of work. * Strong client relationship management skills. * Strong presentation and communication skills, written and verbal * A reliable and committed individual who has the drive and ability to develop the team and staff around them to achieve success in consulting. * A strong desire to produce high quality work in a tight deadline, fast paced environment with pinpoint attention to detail.
