Job Title: Technical Executive (Recreational Craft) Leisure Marine Technical Executive - RCD Reports to: Head of Technical Services JOB PURPOSE To work within the Membership Team to provide assistance to the Head of Technical Services in order to provide information, guidance and effective lobbying on Recreational Craft issues to support the UK marine industry, to meet members' needs and promote membership of this leading marine organisation. KEY TERMS The role will be: •Full Time. 34 hrs per week - Hours will be 9 to 5, with the potential for other such hours as may be required to fulfil the duties of the role. •It will be based at headquarters in Southampton, UK •It will be a salaried position. •Opportunity for flexible working arrangements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Broad based and sound knowledge of Small Craft Regulations, Standards and Legislation. •Sound and broad technical knowledge, particularly but not limited to: •Small Craft ISO standards •Recreational Craft Directive •UK Navigation Authorities and the BSS •Team player with personal drive and initiatve •Excellent communicator in writing and presentation •Confident networker and capable negotiator at varying levels •Well organised and good project management ability •Able to demonstrate a knowledge of the marine industry •IT literate and confident using the suite of Microsoft packages KEY RESULT AREAS •Assist member companies with enquiries. Result member appreciation that the organisation provides value for money. •Advise members on Regulations Result member satisfaction with the service of Technical department. •Consult with members and research on key issues. Result members involvement. •Contributing to this organisations representation on national and international committees. Result members assured that work is being carried out in their interest and to promote the Busines Plan. •Assist in production of the Technical Report and promote the organisation as a centre of excellence. Result members aware of current issues that may affect their business. •Assist in updating the Website. Result ensure members are up to date with current issues. •Deliver workshops/training courses to members and prospective members. Result members gain valuable knowledge and demonstration of benefits of membership. •Establish key issues' and develop industry response to government and standard making bodies. Result members assured that their views are being expressed at the appropriate level. COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS •The Technical Executive reports directly to the Head of Technical Services. The Department works on an informal reporting process, but wider across the organisation there are structured mechanisms for reporting and feedback at which from time to time the Technical Executive will report. •As a membership organisation, staff members should expect to report and feedback to a wide range of our members. •A number of governmental and non-governmental agencies will be a regular contact point for the Technical Executive, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, The Department for Business, The Canal And River Trust and the Environment Agency.
