MAIN PURPOSE Nominet is looking to expand its cyber security business and is seeking an experienced Technical Architect to help deliver architecture that is fit for purpose. The Infrastructure Technical Architect is a new role responsible for providing a combined function of Technical architecture and delivery for the on-premise, hybrid and cloud IT Infrastructure services and systems for Nominet as well as to ensure that proposed and existing architectures are aligned with organisational goals and objectives. This role is a great opportunity for the right candidate to gain exposure to a wide range of technologies that underpin the delivery of Nominet various solutions across authoritative DNS platforms that run critical TLD infrastructure, the registry, and NTX, that Governments all over the world utilise You will assure network, solution and systems design, so all elements of the solution are aligned to IT architecture and standards to deliver the required outcomes for the project and ultimately the customer. The candidate should be able to develop high & low-level designs, assure solution builds including both functional and technical aspects and support the delivery of these designs, sometimes within a customer’s environment. JOB SUMMARY · Ensure Nominet’s customers have reliable, flexible and scalable infrastructure for the future, that supports the delivery of the NTX platform, and is aligned with our core design principles. · Responsible for the technical design of platform architecture · Support the physical delivery (implementation) of the design into customers environments whilst engaging with other subject matter experts and maintaining a ‘hands on’ technical approach · Be comfortable and excited about working with and learning the breadth of enterprise technologies and emerging architectures Nominet exploits. · Establish knowledge and understanding of world class technology organizations and hold a strong external perspective of developments in Technology. · Evaluating technology market trends to identify alternative solution options and associated costs. Identify and addressing gaps in the current infrastructure and capabilities to deliver required business goals. · Researching relevant literature, communities and forums to gain insight to assist in ensuring the architecture remains fit for purpose. · Maintain and develop working non-commercial relationships within the technical department and wider business, external partners and suppliers plus government and industry - focussed on system design, performance, and behaviour. KEY SKILLS · Operating as a technical solution design authority with experience working in Infrastructure, software and application monitoring roles with an advanced understanding across a broad spectrum of mission critical infrastructure technologies. · Infrastructure related technology innovation and emerging technology awareness with a good external, market knowledge of target applications, environments, systems software, packages, platforms etc. · Pro-active self-learner capable of understanding new technologies quickly with facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills to be able to share and communicate that knowledge. · Advanced practical knowledge of Internet networking protocols and peering principles e.g. BGP, OSPF · CCNP or equivalent desirable. · Significant hands-on knowledge of Red Hat Linux and the Red Hat ecosystem (Certification desired). · Significant hands-on knowledge of public cloud providers (Certification desired). · Demonstrable knowledge of: · Infrastructure & network design · DNS/DNSSEC · VMware · Windows · Big Data Technologies and Data migration · Server and SAN hardware (HP) · Networking hardware (Juniper, F5, HP, Cisco) · Oracle, SQL, Cassandra database · Agile and DevOps tools such as Jira, Slack, Puppet or Chef, Docker, Ansible and Terraform This job was originally posted as www.cwjobs.co.uk/job/89952659
