Overview

Shared Services Manager Location: Leeds Centre Competitive and Negotiable Basic plus Bonus, Benefits, Car, Healthcare, Flexible Working The Role This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer and is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who is interested in managing the accounting functions in a shared services centre supporting a global corporate law firm and financial services group operating in a fast paced environment. It also encompasses the financial management and reporting for the legal entities of this large global Law firm. This role will also be responsible for the operational aspects of the Leeds office as a whole which houses other non-accounting shared services and ensuring the office is run in line with the strategy and policies of the Group. The Responsibilities The responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to: Being the Financial Controller for The European Entities Coordinate and prepare annual and periodical budgets and forecasts Prepare and distribute timely monthly management accounts including reporting on variances versus budget Ensure the Leeds office is operated on a day-to-day basis in line with the strategic business plan and its budget Manage the intra-Group billing for orgianisations services Manage VAT returns including reclaims on foreign VAT Prepare corporation tax returns with assistance from external tax advisers Prepare annual financial statements, liaise with external auditors on the year end audit and report to the internal Audit Committee Managing specific shared services functions performed for the Group, including Cash receipting Accounts payable Audit confirmations Matter management Manage the overall shared services office including: Act as the principal point of contact for the Board, Global Managing Partner and the members of the Leeds management committee regarding the Leeds office Liaise with the directors, management committee and global support functions on all material matters and transactions related to the operations of the Leeds office Oversee the day-to-day office services and facilities management Ensure global policies and procedures are appropriately implemented and maintained in the Leeds office Manage local property matters Provide office management support and liaise with the building management on any property matters as and when required Advise the Leeds management committee of space issues and propose solutions and best use of space Ensure there is a business continuity plan in place Undertake projects and implement plans as agreed with the Leeds management committee, CEO and/or GManco Requirements Strong leadership skills are a must as you will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and the continuous development of the Finance team The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a Professional Services environment Recognised professional accounting qualification required (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) The role will require the candidate to have strong attention to detail and the ability to work to strict deadlines Highly process and deadline-oriented and are committed to continuous improvement and best practice Experience in managing shared services functions An excellent communicator who can build relationships and influence across a range of stakeholders Demonstration of a sense of urgency and have the ability to lead a team operating in a fast paced environment with competing priorities Systems literate and ideally have experience of process and system design/implementation Willingness to work beyond core business hours to meet clients' expectations and assist the team with month end processes if necessary Location: Based in Leeds we will consider candidates from the following: Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, West Yorkshire, Halifax, Sheffield, Manchester, Harrogate, York, Barnsley, Huddersfield
