Overview

Purchasing Specialist Waddington Overview The role will be integral to the material supply activity at Waddington by professionally undertaking and delivering key supply activities whilst operating within demanding cost and delivery parameters. Nature and Scope Summary of key responsibilities / activities include:- Liaise with internal departments. to understand business needs to ensure requirements are met Process requisitions and demands Identify supply solutions Process outgoing "Request for Quote" obtaining value for money Enter Purchase Orders onto system Update and maintain Demands Register Expedite Deliveries and Repair Returns Arrange return and repair of stock items Resolve invoice / delivery queries Maintenance of department records using IT packages such as Microsoft Work, Excel, and Access etc. Work on SCM metrics and objectives Represent the department/company at supplier/customer meetings Competencies Knowledge and experience of purchasing and supply chain procedures Ability to assess and manage personal workload without close supervision Organisational skills Task orientated with an attention to detail IT literate (in particular spreadsheets and presentations) Personal Characteristics Self-motivated individual with the ability to work within a dynamic supply chain function. Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a small team in a highly pressurised environment. Excellent communication skills with both internal customers and external suppliers. Education & Experience Essential Previous experience within a Purchasing and/or Inventory Management environment Previous experience within an Engineering and/or Manufacturing environment. Qualified to at least A-Level standard (minimum) or equivalent. Desirable Appropriate professional Supply Chain Management qualification. Experience of working within the Defence/Aerospace industry. SAP experience Eligible for or Holder of current SC security clearance (Raytheon will sponsor as required).
