We are seeking dedicated and caring Waking Night Support workers for our residential and supported living services, supporting adults with learning disabilities and associated health needs. Our main priority, therefore, is to find support workers with values, behaviours and attitudes to match our own. The Grove supports adults with learning disabilities and individual complex needs. The service is outcome-focused and has experience of working with adults who have complex needs and high levels of vulnerability, supporting and enabling them to become more independent in their every day life. The Grove is a spacious semi-detached house in a residential area situated close to Sutton, Surrey. It can accommodate 9 people in single rooms arranged over 3 floors, with shared communal facilities. The property has a garden and is ideally situated for individuals to access community facilities including shops, restaurants, leisure facilities, colleges and transport links. Could this be you? Our services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and many of our service users require support during the night. You will be expected to ensure people are supported to gain a good night’s sleep, monitoring any concerns in relation to disturbed sleep patterns and follow relevant support plans designed to promote sleep and wellbeing. You will focus on ensuring the environment at night is safe and contributes to ensuring people are comfortable at night. Your shifts will be allocated on a rota basis, and will include weekends and bank holidays as required. Please note our Waking Night Support Workers are required to remain awake and vigilant throughout their night shift, even breaks. You will be required to check on residents as required by their care plans, and provide any support needed. Sleeping on duty is not permitted at any time. The Ideal Candidate We believe that a successful support worker doesn’t always have experience, but shares our vision to ensure that ‘every moment has potential’ for the people we support to learn new skills and to achieve their goals. Basic numeracy and literacy skills as well as good English are a must. An NVQ/Diploma L2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and some experience in care work would be an added bonus, but we have a fantastic in-house training team who can help you along if you are taking your first steps in your career as a support worker.
