What the job entails: Job Title: Director of Digital Services Salary: Attractive six figure basic plus benefits Aston University have identified a step change in the delivery of Digital Services that will help drive and power the University’s wider strategy. As the Director of Digital Services a key aim will be to engage with the University user communities and develop customer centric solutions. While actively contributing to the leadership and management of the University there are some key areas that will fall under your direct responsibility: Delivering a range of customer focussed, cost effective IT services to students, external partners and staff. IT infrastructure (networks and storage). IT business applications and systems. Enabling the Digital Learning Environment, both physical and virtual. As the Director of Digital Services, you’ll be able to show the following areas of experience and capability: Leadership and management of Digital/IT Services teams (including budgets, HR matters, technology, vendors & suppliers and projects etc.) as well as advising on best-practice frameworks and leadership to other IT orientated functions. Improving the delivery of information services through the introduction and monitoring of service standards and pre-empting customer needs. Creating high performance, outward facing, customer-focussed teams, through great people management and instilling an ethos of accountability and innovation. Driving change in large, complex organisations with many stakeholders with disparate requirements. Senior management experience in a similar Information Services role within a ‘knowledge–intensive’ organisation. Contributing to the strategic leadership and management of an organisation. Developing strategic and operational plans and of effective delivery against these plans. Knowledge of current and future trends and emerging technologies, and a track record of implementing at pace. How you’ll like to operate: Working collaboratively with other stakeholders. In particular, proven ability to influence and gain strong credibility with stakeholders. Using influencing and persuasion skills to engage successfully with staff and customers to deliver challenging projects. Being flexible, self-motivated and having a creative approach to work. Thinking strategically combined with confident, rational and objective decision-making. A readiness to be decisive, knowing when to take calculated risks. A team player, engendering a culture of openness and sharing and bring energy and enthusiasm to the role.
