Overview

The Company National business is looking to recruit an ambitious DevOps Engineer with management aspirations, to take the lead in developing and embedding a DevOps culture within the business. The Role Leading technically within DevOps, you will responsible in developing and maintaining the core IT infrastructure to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the business. Operating within an Azure environment, you will implement a DevOps methodology appropriate to the business and define and maintain a strategic road map for infrastructure and integration improvements such as cloud road maps, consolidation and automation. Specifically you will: Be responsible for the technical leadership and oversight of implementation and deployment planning, system integrations, data validation, delivery, operations, and sustainability of technical solutions Assign and monitor work of DevOps Team, ensuring all development and deployment is undertaken in the most optimum way Ensure security, stability and capacity is embedded in the development and deployment of services Manage and appropriate escalates any delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes to the Head of Service & Operations and appropriate Project Manager. Share ownership with the Head of Service & Operations for instilling and championing a DevOps culture in line with CAMS methodology (Culture, Automation, Measurement and Sharing) Manage operational aspect of production and development environments including developing, training, and validating compliance with procedures and checklists related to disk space usage, monitoring solutions, deployment, conventions, access, source control, performance monitoring, code validation, and scheduling Ensure the tool chain is fit for purpose ensuring business ROI Ensure solutions are developed in line with business requirements and meet cost, time and quality expectations Be accountable for driving the automation of repeatable tasks for both internal IT process and business process to reduce effort and human error whilst maximising value Work with other departmental functions to ensure appropriate levels of capacity, availability, security and continuity for all infrastructure components. Demonstrate the value the team brings to the business with easily understandable metrics. Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to their optimum performance level, ensuring training and development needs are identified. Instill a culture of learning and continuous improvement Though in time you will be expected to manage the team, it is more important that you provide technical leadership in the short term. The Requirements With at 2 years' DevOps experience you will possess a deep understanding of DevOps practice and principles supporting IT services ideally in line with ITIL frameworks and toolsets. In addition you will have implemented DevOps tool chains and demonstrating subsequent value, having used different hosting technologies - bare metal, virtualization, containerisation systems and managing underlying infrastructure. Exposure to the following will be beneficial: Azure data centre Azure DevOps (source control, defect management) Microsoft SCCM (patching/deployment) Automation tools such as Azure Automation, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, (orchestration/integration/provisioning) LogicApps (integration) NetBox (CMDB) KeyVault (credential management) DynaTrace (monitoring) Applications are also sought from candidates with DevOps experience using other cloud platforms such as AWS. In addition you will either possess management experience or have that aspiration for the future. Most importantly you will possess strong interpersonal skills, active listening and customer care, with the ability to tailor the tone of the message for individuals or groups, have excellent rapport building skills with the ability to quickly gain the confidence of colleagues and stakeholders and possess exceptional communication skills.
