Overview
A new opportunity is now available for a CostBase Accountant to support the Central Finance team at BAE Systems. You will be required to provide accurate information to enable informed decision making and compliant reporting Job Description The Finance team is at the forefront of driving a cost-conscious culture in Maritime Services and works as a business partner with the functions and business delivery streams to ensure that cost challenges are understood, and action plans are in place and being delivered. Your main responsibilities as a Costbase Accountant will involve: Utilising financial systems to obtain data relating to all aspects of cost of employment and discretionary spend to enable cost base data to be analysed across business streams and functions. Supporting the development of Management Information and other reporting systems to improve the communication and application of financial data across the business Taking responsibility for the Capital Expenditure forecasting and reporting and ensuring that the business is fully compliant with the requirements of IFRS 16 reporting. Supporting the costbase team to ensure that only bonafide costs are reported and assisting with corrective activities where necessary Preparing ad-hoc schedules and developing reports to facilitate management review of all aspect of Maritime Services costs. Your skills and qualifications: A formal accounting qualification is not essential for this role, but the successful candidate should have a keen interest in finance and will most likely be considering, or have started, studying for a professional qualification. You will have excellent MS Office skills, particularly Excel and if not already familiar, have a willingness to learn how to use the finance functionality of SAP. You will be motivated by problem solving challenges and able to articulate complex concepts in an understandable manner A willingness to learn BAE Systems processes and procedures, the Operational Framework and Lifecycle Management will be highly beneficial for the right candidate. You will have confidence, be self-motivated and able to effectively challenge existing processes & procedures. Your communication skills will be excellent, and you will possess the ability to connect with stakeholders at all levels in Maritime Services.
