Chemistry Technical Manager York £30k - £35k The Company A well established company based on the outskirts of York are looking for someone to support their R & D and Chemistry function as a Technical Manager. The Role The role features a variety of responsibilities and offers the chance to progress as the company grows. It is an active role in a busy company, and you will be a supportive and essential member of the sales team. The company is a busy industrial manufacturer, working with solvents, oils, paints and a wide range of chemicals and processes. They work closely with customers to provide them with samples and finished products that meet their expectations. The Technical Department is involved in all elements of product development, R & D, process analysis and improvement, planning, reporting, product project development, problem and fault analysis, regulation and compliance, plus many other elements. The Technical Manager is a key role taking control of, and coordinating all aspects of the Technical Team activities and other team members. Duties ·Support & lead the business function of the Technical Department. ·R&D. Understand the products and chemistry, then develop and expand these. ·General Administration, customer contact and compliance/ regulation/ service tasks. ·Tracking and maintaining of records and product specifications. ·Issuing Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and Technical Data Sheet (TDS) information to Customers on request. ·Managing, directing and assisting the day to day work load of Laboratory technicians/ administrator. ·Managing long term projects, including own project work. ·Ordering, organisation & comprehension of chemicals and components required for projects, including supplier contact. The Person It is absolutely essential that the applicant has an in-depth knowledge of organic chemistry/ chemicals, including solvents, surfactants, paints, and a wide range of applications, ideally involving aerosols as well as liquid products. But they will also need a positive attitude and suitable experience, combined with excellent organisational ability and the ability to work in a team. Skills/Experience ·Must have worked within a Laboratory role for a minimum of 2 years using chemicals ·Ideally have a Chemistry Degree (not medical chemistry) ·Good PC skills/ IT literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel. ·Understanding of MSDS sheets, ideally familiarity with MSDS software & know-how. ·R & D Experience This vacancy is advertised on behalf of gap personnel group (Quattro Recruitment Ltd & Quattro Healthcare Ltd) who operate as an Employment Business. gap personnel group is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
