Highway Asset and GIS Officer vacancy Our client, a well known large multi disciplinary consultancy, are looking for a Highway Asset and GIS Officer for their Highways team in London. They are seeking an experienced and talented professional to manage and improve their asset management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and gazetteer processes. The role requires someone with a vision and the ability to deliver robust solutions which are based on best practice and which deliver successful and customer focussed outcomes. The candidate needs to have the patience and attention to detail to maintain systems and data quality. The successful candidate will ensure, in conjunction with colleagues, that statutory and legal obligations are delivered and communicated in a customer-focussed manner, optimising available resources. Job Description: Key responsibilities of the role are: ·Act as Local Street Gazetteer Custodian in line with terms set out by GeoPlace. To provide regular submission of Street Gazetteer to Geoplace as well as improvements to the gazetteer data in line with Geoplace recommendations. Able to provide evidence as necessary with regards Land Registration and/or Public Highway extent. ·Liaise with similar titled officers in neighbouring boroughs on Local Street Gazetteer (LSG) issues that cross borough boundaries. ·To be the Highways Department technical authority for GIS, asset management configuration, data management and reporting. Be a technical lead when we migrate from our current line of business application to a new Highway's asset management system. ·To create reports to support the Highways department. Develop expertise in data scheme management. Introduce process improvement within the Highways department to improve the quality of data. Work with colleagues and teams to improve process. ·To prepare, manage, and attend site surveys of the public highway when required to resolve conflicts in data. ·Liaise with Local Address Custodian, and Street Naming and Numbering Officer within the Gazetteers Steering group to foster closer working and improved processes to optimise the quality of data for use across many council systems. ·To use, promote and develop the use of IT and internal systems to ensure that the Highways Department makes the best use of the technology that is available. Lead in the creation of business cases for new technology. ·Involvement in vendors account meetings. ·To maintain and support the Highways mobile working solutions and assist in the development on improved solutions and processes. ·To provide one to one line-management with regular progress updates on key activities, projects and risks. Maintain risk and issue register for regular review with line manager. Provide expert advice relating to the role. ·To represent the service at public and other meetings as directed. To liaise and deal courteously with enquiries from members of the public, members of the council, other council officers as well as enquires from other agencies and bodies.
