Overview

Funded PhD - Power Efficient Transceivers Location: Edinburgh Salary: up to £40,000 plus benefits We are assisting an Edinburgh based client who are hosting a fully funded PhD programme in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh The focus of the opportunity is focusing on the design of IoT systems that leverage the low baseline energy consumption of LEDs to jointly deliver lighting and networked communication. Specifically, this role will focus on the design and development of a novel transmitter and receiver architecture that significantly reduces transmitter power loss to no detriment of the spectrum efficiency of the existing solutions. Several prototypes and development cycles will be required to achieve the ideal combination of modulation bandwidth, current capacity, and power efficiency. An improvement of at least one order of magnitude in power efficiency should be targeted. Requirements include: Educated to Masters level. You must be internationally mobile. At the time of recruitment, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the past 3 years.
