Overview
Role Profile Environmental Health Officer Food and Health & Safety Outline We currently have 3 temporary posts that have become available working for the Food and Health and Safety Team of our north west England local authority client. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with a busy city-based team with a wide range of premises and a varied workload. The 3-month vacancies require candidates that have suitable experience to undertake food safety inspections, re-visits, identify where enforcement action is required and escalate to existing staff and respond to customer service requests. You will be expected to complete inspection reports, establish and allocate food hygiene ratings and prepare schedules of work for food business operators. You will also be expected to investigate complaints relating to poor food hygiene practices and advise business on improvements and update customers. Job Description Environmental Health/Food Safety Officer You will complete all relevant details for service requests and related activities in the council's Civica Flare system. It is essential that you have significant experience and competency in food hygiene work and can work to a high standard with minimal supervision. The minimum requirements for the post are: - Be an EHRB registered EHO or have obtained EHRB registration through a higher certificate related to food safety. Achieve and documented food competency in-line with the Food Law Code of Practice. Up to date CPD records You will be expected to fully comply with council procedures and FSA Code of Practice and Practice Guidance requirements. Applications from those with additional expertise in occupational health and safety, are particularly invited but this is by no means essential. Additional Info: Candidates will be expected to provide their own safety shoes and uniform items required for undertaking food safety inspections and/or site visits. Candidates will be provided with relevant risk assessments. Key Role details: The role holder will provide high quality, customer focused, flexible and timely support thereby contributing to the achievement of objectives of a high-quality service. The role holder will be Involved in enforcing standards and/or regulating community activity. The role holder will understand the impact of statutory regulations, legislation and national guidelines on core regulatory activities. The role holder will be responsible for advising the public and external stakeholders on compliance and regulatory processes Key Role Accountabilities: Support with the delivery of the Council's statutory enforcement obligations and where necessary liaise with other Council departments or relevant bodies. Deal effectively with requests within designated timescales and maintaining accurate records of all relevant investigations, inspections and meetings Provide technical and legislative advice in interpretation and enforcement of relevant legislation to officers across Neighbourhood Services. Assist in the review and translation of statutory regulations, legislation and national guidelines. Work closely with key stakeholders to develop and maintain effective partnerships, linkages and greater coordinated working ensuring effective community and member engagement and clear channels of communication Ensure that complex information is interpreted to a high standard and potential solutions are communicated to relevant parties Roles at this level may be required to undertake management duties, either through direct line management of a team (including appraisals, performance management and other duties) or through matrix management of a virtual team of officers.
