Job Description

My client based in South Wales are looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join their small team on a full time employed basis. Within this role you will be required to: · Undertake food hygiene and health and safety interventions in all risk categories and types of premises in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations & codes of practice, and within written procedures where appropriate so as to ensure their compliance in respect of food safety, health and safety and relevant statutes  · Investigate food complaints and complaints relating to food premises.  · Investigate complaints relating to health and safety, including reportable accidents and dangerous occurrences.  · Investigate cases of food poisoning and other infectious diseases.  · To undertake enforcement action as appropriate and in line with the enforcement policy, including the service of notices and preparation of legal reports.  · Complete food safety audits and advice visits  · Complete food safety and health and safety training and presentations  · Maintaining records as required by the FSA and other bodies as necessary.  · To work hours that are outside of regular office hours on occasion as required. In order to be successful in this role you will need to have the following: · Qualified environmental health officer with EHORB/EHRB registration · Membership of professional body such as CIEH · Relevant additional qualification e.g. NEBOSH · Experience of inspecting /auditing food businesses requiring in depth knowledge of legislation and guidance · Experience of investigating food poisoning complaints · Ability to progress projects in a timely manner · Demonstrate ability to make and implement decisions · Proven excellent team working skills · Strong analytical and problem solving skills · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills · Experience of report writing · Experience of presenting reports in various forums This role requires you to have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills as well as the ability to progress work with minimal supervision. You must have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers at all levels and the ability to prioritise your own workload. This role would suit someone who is enthusiastic and self motivated with a positive attitude and who is able to use initiative.
