Your new company Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre. Your new role We are looking for an experienced Driver / Fitter to join the Southend Equipment & Adaptation Service team on a full time, temporary basis ( until 30/06/2020 ). As a Warehouse/Driver Fitter, you will be providing, fitting and installing items of equipment in the homes of service users. You will also collect and pick up equipment from service users homes within the Southend borough and occasionally out of the area. The role is mainly lone working but would require you to occasionally liaise with team members to deliver and install heavy equipment. You will be required to accurately stock keep and store all equipment in the warehouse. You will also be required to clean and refurbish all returned stock as part of your warehouse duties. Full training for equipment installation will be given upon appointment. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to work on your own initiatives and prioritise own workload. This role involves lifting so it will be suitable for a hardworking and dedicated individual. Good understanding of basic health & safety principles including safe manual handling, COSHH awareness, storage safety issues, security & fire awareness is essential for this role. Experience of working with vulnerable or disabled adult is highly desirable. Knowledge of the local area would be advantageous.
