Overview
Research Associate Job number ACAD104508 Division/School - School of Biochemistry Contract type - Open Ended Working pattern - Full time Salary £33,797 - £38,017 per annum Closing date for applications 01-Apr-2020 Postdoctoral Scientist in endosomal cargo sorting. We have the following full-time postdoctoral research position available within the group of Professor Peter Cullen at the University of Bristol, U.K: Position: Biochemical analysis of retriever assembly Funded through an MRC programme grant, the research focuses on the lab’s recent identification of a highly conserved multi-protein complex termed retriever, that functions as a molecular machine for controlling the retromer-independent endosome-to-plasma membrane recycling of numerous integral membrane proteins following their endocytosis (including integrins, adhesion molecules and nutrient transporters / sensors). Through multi-disciplinary and collaborative research, you will seek to biochemically define retriever’s assembly to provide insight into the function of this complex in health and disease, with a particular focus on an emerging role in neuroprotection. You will have a relevant PhD (awarded or imminent), experience in relevant experimental techniques (ideally hands-on expertise in recombinant protein purification and cryo-EM). The position is available for 2.5 years. We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT and BAME communities, to join us.
