Senior Research Associate in Medical Statistics or Quantitative Epidemiology Job number ACAD104532 Division/School - Bristol Medical School Contract type- Open Ended Working pattern - Full time Salary £38,017-£42,792 per annum Closing date for applications 26-Apr-2020 Applications are invited for a medical statistician with strong epidemiological expertise or an epidemiologist with strong statistical expertise to join the analytics team of the newly created Tommy’s National Centre for Improving Maternity Care led by Dr Erik Lenguerrand and Prof Andrew Judge. The post holder will join a multidisciplinary group of epidemiologists, statisticians, obstetricians and midwives based at Southmead Hospital (North Bristol Trust). This analytical team is providing statistical support to the new national Tommys centre lead by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Royal College of Midwives in collaboration with several universities across the country. The centre is aiming to reduce stillbirth (SB) and preterm birth (PTB) by scaling up current best care practices across all UK maternity/obstetrics units. The centre will use national birth registry data with linkage to new clinical databases on antenatal and perinatal care to achieve this aim. The analytics team will develop and conduct quasi-experimental, and observational studies nested within these registries. The post holder will conduct data management of large health databases, contribute to the development of data governance policies and data access permission applications, write study protocols and analysis plans, conduct advanced statistical modelling and write research outputs (research papers and study reports) as lead and co-author. The post-holder will also contribute to future grant applications developed by the team. The post holder will be supported by Dr Erik Lenguerrand, and Prof Andrew Judge who primarily work on the analysis of large national health registry data.
