Overview

The Role We are looking for a business development executive to join our team based in Brentwood. The BDE role primarily exists to support our accredited broker partners, assisting them in understanding our credit appetite and ensuring they understand our criteria, process and literature. They drive conversions by discussing any indicative mortgage offers, assisting the broker with the positioning of the Shawbrook opportunity. They also assist our partners with live cases, helping navigate the journey through the mortgage process proving information, guidance and training as required. Assist commercial marketing with external communications to brokers in the form of broker bulletins, training and Marketing literature, documents and other projects as and when specified. The BDE is also the first contact point for direct clients, ensuring potential clients are assisted and then directed into our broker partner panel or Direct team as required. The BDE is also responsible obtaining and collating client feedback. The role is primarily based in Head Office, though there may be a requirement for travel on occasion to support BDMs in the field. The role will report into the Senior Manager, Broker Support. Responsibilities Handling internal and external telephone/email enquiries efficiently and within company standards, taking the time to position a proposition and identify alternative solutions as required to align with our appetite. Principal responsibility for supporting brokers, introducers and direct clients with new and live cases, ensuring the smoothest journey through the Shawbrook process. Responsible for filtering any direct client enquiries, being able to obtain information from direct clients by using open questions, developing a full understanding to quickly identify any opportunity to lend. Liaising with existing Shawbrook clients to discuss our product range, retaining existing business and assisting with new opportunities. Ensure that data held on our origination systems is of the highest quality to enable accurate management information and customer contact can be maintained. Developing strong relationships with our broker partners, encouraging them to embrace our support for the positioning of the deal. Being experts on the competition, understanding where our strengths as a bank and ensuring the broker partners are aware of our USPs, initiatives and always focus. Having a thorough understanding of our products and criteria and be able to quickly understand the strengths and weaknesses of a commercial property deal. Develop rationale for propositions and communicate findings to Seniors for their consideration. Be able to pre-assess paperwork from the client or broker to validate the information supplied. To effectively communicate with a large panel of introducers/brokers, maintaining relationships, explaining our proposition and driving increased levels of business from these sources. Support with the training and development of new brokers when using our broker portal, and acquainting them with our processes, products and literature. Ensure accurate and detailed notes are recorded of all conversations and regularly update any progress made within BlueChip. Systems experts - the BDE will have an excellent working knowledge of bank systems including Bluechip, DJ, UW and e-Tech. Undertake regular calls to the registered Introducers to ensure they are updated on our product offerings, and ensure they are receiving the appropriate level of support from any partnered Strategic/Elite partners. Accurate recording of telephone/email enquiries on Enquiry Log spreadsheet. Assisting BDMs with case appeals by liaising between the field and credit teams. Contact clients as required to obtain feedback, collating the results for delivery to the senior team. General Sales Support such as assisting with new product launches, pipeline management, and any other adhoc tasks as required. The Person Experience A good understanding of the commercial mortgage sector An excellent understanding of mortgages and the financial services market Essential that must have experience in a telephone-based role Seasoned experience in dealing with customers and introducers and providing them with high levels of customer service Experience of working in a customer focused environment and in a small to medium sized organisation. Technical/Specialist Knowledge & SkillsTechnical Computer literate (good knowledge of MS Office suite - Excel, Word, Power-Point) Knowledge of TCF Good knowledge of compliance procedures with the mortgage industry. Able to read and understand financial accounts, valuations, business appraisals and credit searches.
