Overview

Capita Networking Solutions is looking for a Lead Network Engineer based in Scotland Your role plays an integral part of the Professional Services Cisco Networks Engineering team within our project delivery division. You will provide consultancy, design and implement complex Cisco network solutions as well as handover to our Network Operation Teams. You will also provide 24/7 maintenance support for our customers on a regional basis 1 week in 4 with additional payment for on call. Principle Accountabilities Be able to take customer requirements that can vary in detail and produce high quality technical designs at both high and low level of detail. Be able to deliver designs to standards often against challenging timescales. Very demanding role that requires a combination of customer facing and technical acumen. Provide input to technical designs provided by other IT areas; well rounded technical knowledge is highly desirable. Provide direct interaction with customers as a point of technical contact. To support customers technical requirements in association with other business units where necessary, providing direct technical liaison for customers where required. Working with the delivery teams of Design, Implement, Operate and their respective management, ensure that each area is delivering timely and quality services and provide technical assistance in exceptional circumstances to help control issues. Through day to day activities contribute to continual service improvement, reflected in client quarterly scorecard. Responsibilities Include: Lead the project implementation phase. Build, configure and deliver network integration solutions. Produce 'as built' network project documentation. Transition all installed project handover to Operational Support. Attend internal and external project kickoff meetings. Work with Presales and/or Design Teams on high level design approval. Understand and deliver detailed customer requirements. Support Network Operations teams; log, manage and maintain vendor escalations. Provide leadership and technical input to complex break fix and project orientated installations. Comprehensive understanding of major data networking technologies and concepts. Develop and implement personal working practices in accordance with Capita IT Services standard operating environment in line with Networks Division divisional objectives and goals. Continually develop, maintain and apply expert technical knowledge and skills within vendor product and technology markets identified and defined by business and vendor portfolio. Ensure compliance with all health & safety and quality process. Lead by example by demonstrating effective and efficient technical excellence. Mentor and coach less experienced engineers. Contribute to Team process improvements. Attend team meetings and 1-2-1 meetings General administration duties; timesheets, reports etc Essential Experience/Skills Vast data networking experience Cisco CCNP accredited Routing / Switching skills Wireless skills Data Centre/Nexus skills SC level Security Clearance (or able to attain). Good standard of General Education Customer relationship building Full driving license Desired Experience/Skills Good awareness of all major vendors; HP, Riverbed, Juniper and Checkpoint. Knowledge /awareness of ITIL processes Good commercial & business awareness
