Overview

Our Client is a leading international manufacturer and supplier of specialty chemicals. They have extensive representation in many varied sectors of industry. They are now seeking an EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Assistant . This position will be based in Kidderminster, Worcestershire and is a Full-Time Permanent role. Job Purpose To be part of the EHS team with a primary focus on environmental and compliance requirements. The position reports to the EHS Specialist. Key Responsibilities Support the maintenance management and development of the facility EHS management system, specifically the OHSA18001 (working towards the migration to ISO45001), ISO14001 and Responsible Care (RC14001) EHS management systems and databases To assist in implementing compliance to existing and emerging EHS Corporate Standards, and to create, document, review and re-formulate new or existing procedures and work instructions Participate in ISO and Responsible Care EHS management systems audits, both internal and external Assist and support the ‘Zero Incident’ behavioral programme to drive and improve the Safety Culture of the facility Use tools such as Hazard Identification, risk assessments, Job observation, Behavior Based Safety, ‘Near Hit’ incident investigation, Hazops and others To liaise with all facility departments where required to help ensure that all tasks are performed in a safe manner, and in compliance with all local regulations, company standards and requirements Develop, implement and support the annual EHS facility tactical Plan, to support and work towards designated corporate EHS goals & targets To carry out and support a range of EHS specific risk assessments, including workplace, COSHH, and ergonomic and assist in the resolution of actions related to findings from those type of assessments Assist in and support the facility safety committee: with documenting of minutes, feedback and active participation Assist in and support the security and Emergency Response Plan with participation in annual drills, training and follow ups actions resolution Assist and co-ordinate in the quantification and collation of the facilities’ EHS “Key Performance Indicators” Participate in company cross divisional EHS programmes in the EMEA Region. Engage in facility MOC’s (management of change) Ensure regulatory compliance with the requirements of current and emerging regulations such as – maintain permits; waste and recycling programmes Interface with external regulatory agencies Qualifications and Experience Some experience in an EH&S (Environment, Health & Safety) role is desirable Experience in internal auditing would be advantageous Good understanding of EH&S legislation and standards IOSH Qualification NEBOSH National General Certificate is desirable Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Able to work accurately and with high levels of attention to detail Ability to prioritise workload To work well independently and as part of a team Ability to evaluate data Proficient use of PC based computer systems Confident in implementing change In return our client is offering a salary of £22,000 - £25,000 per annum basic plus comprehensive benefits.
