Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Consultants in Elderly Medicine St James’s University Hospital Closing Date: 23 April 2020 Ref: 298-CON-595 We have 4 new appointments to join the Department of Elderly Medicine at an exciting time of redevelopment of integrated services and expansion of admission avoidance and peri-operative care services. Successful applicants will be joining a thriving department with a wide range of sub-specialities, and a strong focus on quality improvement and student education. To be able to deliver our new vision Elderly Medicine require 3 full time 10 PA Consultant Geriatrician and one 6.75 PA Consultant Geriatrician. Successful applicants would be required to: deliver care to patients with elderly care needs in a variety of settings including; Community, frailty unit, emergency department, older people’s admission wards. link with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams across the Trust. work with colleagues within the Emergency and Specialty Medicine CSU to deliver acute on call (currently 1 in 1:23.5). This includes both out-of-hours cover in addition to acute ward rounds during normal working hours. contribute to research, teaching and new developments within Elderly Medicine. The successful applicant should possess MRCP (or equivalent) and should be included on the specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register. Applicants should have established skills in Elderly Medicine and its related specialties. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
