Job Description

The Microbiology department at Maidstone Hospital has a vacancy for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (BMS). We would ideally prefer you to have IBMS Specialist Diploma and at least three years post HCPC registration experience in a microbiology department . We would be happy to receive applications from HCPC registered candidates if you are working towards the IBMS Specialist diploma, as training can be provided. The role involves performing duties of a BMS, rotating through all sections of Microbiology including bacteriology, serology, molecular and AAFB CL3. Main Instrumentation: Bruker Maldi ToF, Vitek 2, BacTalert, Mast Urisytem,Enteric Bio, DS2, Abbott Architect, Vidas, Roche 4800, BD midgit. Telepath LIMS. Participation in the weekend and Bank holiday morning shifts and the on call rota is expected. These are currently paid outside of contracted hours. In return we offer an interesting and challenging role within the friendly microbiology team. Specialties covered include : paediatrics, haemato oncology. opthalmology, general surgery and medicine,orthopaedics and sexual health.
