Overview

The Role: Maintenance Engineer Due to growth within the company our client is currently seeking to appoint a Maintenance Engineer to start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be required to carry out planned maintenance within allocated times and frequencies. Attend breakdowns as required assess and carry out repairs in a timely manner. Maintain and improve plant operations and performance - electrical and mechanical. Complete basic buildings and facilities maintenance. Carry out and administer project and improvement works as instructed. Ensure good communication with production other Departments. The Candidate: Qualified Electrical Engineer. Minimum 16th Edition PLC diagnostic experience. Experienced in Mechanical maintenance. (Must be able to carry out Mechanical tasks as instructed and business requires) Production/operations experience. Flexible in adapting to electrical/mechanical Can do approach. Comfortable offering improvement suggestions. Fit and able to do the work. Flexible working approach to business requirements. Be a team player. Computer literate. (Emails, Excel, Word) Excellent diagnostic/troubleshooting skills. Key Responsibility: Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Comply with company rules and guidelines in order to meet legislation and regulations. Follow all policies and procedures to ensure safe working. Be exemplary in Safety standards. Be fully trained in conducting your tasks safely. Be involved in any accident investigations relating to plant, equipment and department staff. Be involved in establishing work procedures and risk assessments. Never perform unsafe acts. Ensure 5S (workplace organisation) and personal work areas are to the highest standards. Quality Ensure BRC and independent hygiene and quality standards are met through plant and equipment maintenance and development. Ensure workshop and stores meet 5S standards (Immaculate is the standard) Highlight and deal with plant and equipment issues that do not meet your standards and those of the company. Customer Service Support investigation and actioning of breakdowns and plant problems within operations. Look, feel, listen, smell for issues on the plant. Ensure good communication is maintained with production and others throughout shift Ensure that decision making process allows highest levels of machine uptime. Ensure you respond promptly and professionally to plant concerns and issues. Communicate with Teams and management as necessary. Engineering Operations Ensure plant availability is maximised to increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE - Line Efficiency). Focus on electrical matters but, must also deal with all mechanical issues as instructed. Actively engage in the implementation of Lean manufacturing techniques on site e.g. rapid changeover, Kanbans, improvement teams and TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance). Understand and support the setup of equipment operating conditions and standards for running a variety of inputs to the plant to maximise plant yield and throughput at lowest cost. Be involved in developing and implementing plant maintenance, servicing and monitoring programme for all key equipment. Further develop and improve the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system to be more predictive. Operational awareness of relevant and new technologies. Support further development of the spares policy for the site. Support the development of a computerised maintenance management system. Order parts as required when authorised by Engineering Manager. Project work as the Electrical Lead - Development, Installation, Commissioning, Operation and Maintenance. Spares Procurement Ensure parts used and required are communicated to the Engineering Manager. Strategy Support the development, communication and actioning of the Operational strategy. Support the Operational Vision of "Winning Together" Desire and strive for Manufacturing Excellence. Budget/Costs Suggest improvements to improve plant uptime and reduce business costs. General Provide cover as required (sickness/holidays ) Be available to resolve issues out of hours as required Use a positive approach when dealing with the role. Training of others in role. Other appropriate tasks that may be required from time to time. Qualifications Required Required : BTEC ONC Level 3 Electrical Engineering or CG Electrical Engineering 2565 Level 3 or similar. 17th Edition Electrical Regulations Training and Experience Required : 4 Year apprenticeship in Electrical maintenance/similar role or 4 year apprenticeship in Engineering with formal accredited multiskilling but must be above qualification level. 5 years minimum post apprenticeship experience in Multi skilled Technician or Electrical Technician position held within medium sized manufacturing industry, processing, or FMCG. Advantageous : Experience of Plant Uptime and Planned Maintenance systems.
