Overview

This is a great time to join Aldridge Education. We are investing in Human Resources and need a part-time HR Manager to look after one of our busy Academies. In this role you will need to be able to demonstrate your people skills, influence and negotiation, coupled with extensive experience of employee relations. Aldridge Education is a charitable trust whose entrepreneurial community schools help young people to reach their potential. We support our Principals and teachers in rapidly improving the quality of education on offer at early years, primary, secondary and sixth-form levels in order to transform the life-chances of our students. Aldridge Education was established as a national multi-academy trust by the Aldridge Foundation in 2016, taking over responsibility from the Foundation for its family of non-selective academy schools and colleges, some of which are part of the multi academy trust whilst others are currently independent Trusts sponsored by Aldridge Education. Purpose: The HR Manager works closely with school leaders to support and undertake case management, provide training, give advice and guidance and ensure that all Trust policies are followed in all actions taken. Additionally, the postholder oversees and maintains effective employee relations and retention programs through proper planning, direction, leadership and evaluation to enable a highly skilled, competent and committed workforce. This role requires weekly travel to either London or Brighton dependant on the incumbents home location. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: Provide on-site and remote, proactive support and undertake case management work in the allocated schools. Provide appropriate advice and guidance to school leaders, ensuring that advice is in line with Trust policies and best practice. Partner with organisational leaders to gather feedback and make recommendations on HR policies to help align programs with organisational goals. Evaluate, recommend and implement programs supporting strategic people initiatives. Act as a liaison to bridge communication of corporate policies and practices to all Trust schools. Investigate employee complaints and grievances and recommend corrective actions. Establish and implement processes to properly on-board new employees. Maintain administrative oversight of key employment information and records including; o New hire o Benefits o Payroll o Holiday tracking o Sick Leave Conduct exit interviews and off-boarding procedures, analysing information gathered in these processes to help develop retention strategies and reduce turnover. Oversee employment needs and /or programmes that support staffing, such as managing temporary employees, alternative work schedules etc. Liaise with appropriate school staff on the various activities associated with recruiting, working closely with school PAs and Principals in relation to: o Employee requisitions o Job descriptions o Job postings o Candidate sourcing and screening o Job offers Provide coaching and guidance to management and employees in dealing with employment related issues and / or concerns. Ensure that school leaders are kept updated on current legal requirements and guidance. Drive the performance management process and provide coaching to line managers to ensure the continuous development of employees. Assess compliance situations and risks associated with various solutions. Support the Trust and its schools in the co-ordination and management of training and training programmes and records. To support schools in the production of the annual school workforce census through accurate record keeping and data cleansing. Person Specification: Willingness to work operationally whilst demonstrating the ability to think strategically. Ability to operate in a consultative manner. Ability to work autonomously. Ability to prioritise and organise multiple projects. Evidence of solid understanding of employment law. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Broad generalist HR experience with strong influencing skills. Good understanding of the education sector. 5 GCSEs including English and maths at a minimum of Grade C. Strong level 3 qualifications.
