Bioinformatics & genetic data management specialist for growing company in Cambridge, project leadership Your new company Is a rapidly growing pharmaceutical data & bioinformatics company in the Cambridge area, providing bespoke solutions to a range of clients within the pharmaceutical, biotech and genomics fields, using a range of pipelines, software and data analysis tools to make a big difference to their clients, working with multi-omics and clinical trial data sets to fast-track a range of programmes. Your new role You will be joining an enthusiastic and talented team, taking on / leading data management and troubleshooting for clients on the company's software platform (which is focused on clinical trial, genetic, bioinformatics and drug discovery data analysis). For more experienced candidates there is scope to input into strategy and company development plans. The major responsibilities include: Downloading and loading biological or clinical data sets from/to public repositories and internal platforms; Providing training and ongoing support to internal teams and clients on data issues/queries; Scripting (either from scratch or optimising existing scripts); Data wrangling of large / diverse data sets; Providing customer and market feedback to internal development teams to identify market opportunities; Building relationships with clients for future business. This is a fast-paced environment where you will need to deal with people at all levels, from developers through to senior management/C-level executives. What you'll need to succeed As well as excellent analytical, organisational and team-working skills, you will need to have an innovative approach to problem solving and be able to work both independently and as part of a larger team. You should have a degree (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, computational chemistry, physics, statistics, mathematics, biology, genetics or a related field. Experience with biological or clinical data, eg from hands-on analysis or as a data manager and/or genomics, drug discovery (eg assay or screening services) or bioinformatics would be a significant advantage. You will also need: A good understanding of genomic, biological, pharmaceutical, clinical or similar research, from either academia or industry work experience; Good data wrangling skills, with scripting experience; Knowledge of biological / omics or clinical data formats, eg VCF, FASTQ, BAM, SDTM, etc Hands-on experience with biological data systems / software, bioinformatics, drug discovery or similar software; An aptitude for creative problem solving, especially within technical problems. Candidates with related experience but who can evidence / demonstrate a strong ability to learn and adapt to new situations are also encouraged to apply.
