Housing Environmental Health Officer located in North London paying up to £28 per hour Your new company This South London based public sector organisation is currently looking to recruit an Environmental Health Officer to join their Regulatory Services Partnership division. The team provide a full range of Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing Services for Merton, Wandsworth and Richmond up Thames only. Your new role As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be responsible for Delivering an Environmental Health function with reference to Private Sector Housing, namely investigating reports of housing hazards and public health nuisances; taking action to remedy housing deficiencies in individual cases; assessing the suitability of housing for licensing (such as HMOs) and ensuring licensed housing remains safe and suitable for occupation. Taking enforcement action in cases of non-compliance. To undertake inspections, surveys and investigations under relevant Environmental Health Legislation, including visiting sites and taking necessary action Prepare reports and make recommendations for legal proceedings and provide briefings for legal representatives. Participate in the development of intervention strategies for public health policies and procedures within the private sector housing discipline. Initiate and support Officers as well as overseeing cases in relation to the housing licensing schemes, proactively identifying relevant properties that require a licence and carrying out works in default What you'll need to succeed To be the successful candidate you will need to have a degree or equivalent in the relevant discipline or extensive relevant practical experience. In addition to this, you would need to e a member of the relevant professional as Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (Full Member status) or Chartered Institute of Housing (Certified Practitioner status) or equivalent; or eligibility such membership and a commitment to achieve it within 6 months of appointment and it will enhance your application if you can show evidence of continued professional development.
