Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly-skilled and professional HR Manager to join our positive, proactive and collaborative HR team. Sitting within the HR Business Partnering team you will work with our Scientific Programmes, giving front-line ER support and guidance on policies and processes. Working within the HR Business Partnering team supporting a range of scientific managers and specialists to navigate people management challenges. Promoting best-practice initiatives, coaching and advising managers on a range of ER work and generalist queries you will work closely with the Lead HR Partner for the area to provide an exemplary and proactive service to our people. Supporting projects and policy reviews where appropriate you will be the first point of contact on a wide-range of generalist issues. Essential Skills Qualified to Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) standard either through training or experience. Experience of providing HR/generalist advice and guidance to all levels of staff in a professional or a technical environment. Proven ability to mediate in difficult emotionally charged conflict situations and ability to recognise when different approaches are required to find solutions Proficiency in employment law, modern recruitment and selection methods and performance management techniques Strong attention to detail Demonstrable excellent customer service skills and a flexible pragmatic approach Team working skills, and an ability to deliver project outcomes Well-developed communication skills and the ability to clearly present ideas and solutions; to listen, analyse and respond effectively in complex and difficult situations and influence and persuade as appropriate. Proven Coaching skills Ability to work under sustained pressure and manage a heavy workload of potentially contentious casework Well-developed IT skills and experience of interpreting reports/data Demonstrable ability to use a flexible and pragmatic approach to problem-solving Ideal Skills Experience of working in an academic and/or research-based environment Other information The interview process is likely to be two stages.
