I am recruiting an exciting new role for a Head of Engineering to join a well-established Food Manufacturing business at an exciting time of growth. I am recruiting an exciting new role for a Head of Engineering to join a well-established Food Manufacturing business, this high-profile post is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to join my client's senior leadership team as the company go through an exciting time of growth. As Head of Engineering it will be your duty to lead the engineering team in delivering world class service levels within the business across a fast paced, high pressured site. You will have full ownership for site engineering and will be accountable for the purchasing, functioning and maintenance of the current asset base. The Head of Engineering will be accountable in ensuring that all equipment is performing to excellent standards through PPM, ensuring product quality and safety requirements are always met. You will take complete ownership of maintenance strategy and will drive complex investment programmes, incorporating new and emerging technology with the goal of remaining competitive and ahead of rivals. This role will report directly into the General Manager and will lead a team of around 40 within engineering including two engineering managers and a site services manager. The People development piece is key to this role being a success therefore it's crucial that you have ability to influence a large team opposed to just telling your team what to do You will be the dredging force behind implement ting a 'one team' culture across site. Using your experience, you will monitor and identify training needs and offer mentoring and coaching where applicable as well as putting measures in place to ensure team progression and development. Acting as part of the site leadership team you will work closely with the other departments including group projects, Operations, Technical etc implementing strong working synergies across site departments, it's a given that for this role you will need exceptional communication skills and have the ability to present at board level. This role is NOT for the faint hearted and to be successful in this post you must have a real gravitas and be able to get the buy in from your team. This is a challenging site and it needs an experienced and highly ambitious individual to implement positive change. You will be highly experience within continuous improvement (Six Sigma qualification will be advantageous) and would have used different CI tools and techniques with a portfolio of achievements and improvement you have made at previous employers, my client is looking for a natural problem solver who has a methodical but calm approach. To be considered for this role you must have several years' experience as a senior engineering manager ideally within the food manufacturing industry (other fast paced FMCG sectors will be considered), you will have experience in high value projects (CAPEX etc) in excess of £1million. You will ideally have a membership of a professional organisation such as I.Mech.E or I.E.E. and have and an engineering degree or equivalent (Time spent and clear career progression would be ideal).
