ACCIDENT REPAIR TECHNICIAN (BODY & PAINT) APPRENTICESHIP Volvo Apprenticeship Programme A fantastic apprenticeship opportunity within the Volvo Cars Authorised Repairer Network, where you can learn and develop both new and your existing skills in an exciting and challenging role - best of all you'll earn while you learn This exciting apprenticeship programme is ideal for someone who is looking to begin their journey to becoming a qualified Service Technician and who wants to develop a long term career with an ambitious automotive brand. THE ROLE OF A ACCIDENT REPAIR TECHNICIAN Over the 30 month programme you will work towards a Level 3 Accident Repair Technician Apprenticeship Standard and will involve the following; Remove & refit body panels e.g. wings, doors, bonnets, tailgates Repairing & reshaping panels using body filler, panel hammers and other special tools. Welding on new panels. Mixing & applying primers & colour coats, using spray guns & equipment. Polishing painted panels using polishing machine. Remove & refit of mechanical parts e.g. wheels, suspension, steering, air conditioning, transmissions, engines. Remove & refit electrical components e.g. lights, security systems, instruments & entertainment systems, charging and starting systems, electrical fault finding. Remove & refit interior & exterior trims e.g. bumpers, spoilers, door trims, carpets. WORKING WEEK A typical working week could be 40 hours Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm, however each of our Dealers will have different requirements. All learners will be required to work the minimum apprenticeship duration of 30 hours per week. At least 20% of your working hours will be allocated to 'off-the-job' training. We'll support you to understand the working hours during the recruitment process. YOUR DEVELOPMENT Our Apprenticeship Programme is an excellent way of ensuring we have high quality people working within our Dealer Network. Over the 30 month programme you will work towards a Level 3 Accident Repair Technician Apprenticeship Standard and receive the following; At work training supported with coaching, mentoring and assessment Instructor led training at Volvo’s Training & Development Centre at Daventry and Body and Paint Partners iTAS in Milton Keynes Online learning modules ( other elective sessions if you wish) Webinar based modules Qualification group assignments: completed by self-study/in repairer study On the job competence assessment with assigned mentors End point assessment at Volvo to achieve the apprenticeship standard SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALITIES All of our opportunities receive a really good response and so we're looking for you to demonstrate why you stand out from the crowd. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Age : 16 Prior Attainment : GCSE (or equivalent) grade A-C or 9-4 in Maths and English. Predicated grades are accepted. In Scotland, applicants must have or be predicted to achieve National 4 or above in English and Maths and either a Science or Technical subject. Standard Grades 1-4 and Intermediates are also accepted.
