Position summary: Transport Planner Specialist BASED LEIGHTON BUZZARD SALARY £24,500 to £25,500 PER ANNUM Monday – Friday 45 hours per week on early / late rota Early 09:00 hrs – 19:00 hrs /Lates 14:00 hrs to Midnight Polar Speed has a reputation for quality, compliance, operational and customer facing technology and monitoring solutions in the growing temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical logistics market in the UK.The company specialises in active temperature-controlled deliveries to hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers and medical care surgeries as well as to end patients which it serves through its homecare business.Its customers include some of the best known pharmaceutical brands in the world. As a Transport Planner you will be responsible for scheduling driver delivery routes using a computerised routing system, in addition to this you would arrange wholesale delivery bookings and carrier bookings. You would also be responsible for dealing with any planning issues, provide communication to office base as well as remote staff and clients, produce schedules and ad-hoc reports ensuring that both vehicle and staff resource are utilised in the most efficient way, you will also participate in departmental analysis and projects as directed by your direct management. To succeed in the role you will require excellent organisational skills with the ability to work multiple workflows and deadlines simultaneously, be a quick thinker with the ability to adapt to changes and problem solve providing effective solutions in a timely manner. Proven experience of building excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders required. This can be a pressurised environment so applicants must be prepared to work effectively, pay close attention to detail whilst ensuring methodical and adaptable approach to work, dealing and resolving issues/problems when they occur. Experience within transportation/distribution would be advantageous. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to · Daily Scheduling of dynamic delivery routes using a computerised routing system. · Prepare and monitor performance of resourcing plans for both personnel and vehicles. · Undertaking wholesale delivery bookings to produce the most efficient pallet delivery schedule. · Undertake carrier bookings when required using the appropriate process. · Ensure that telephone, email or written correspondence/enquiries are answered in a comprehensive and timely manner. · Undertake, meet and/or exceed client KPI’s on agreed schedules. · Produce and circulate client/department reports as assigned by your line manager. · Undertake any analysis/project work as set by your line manager. · Complete all tasks as set out in the department check sheets covering all shifts and in line with company policy and procedure. · Communicate any changes made in a timely fashion · Read and act upon internal/external communications. · Source and collate information for management. · Escalate problems, issues and potential risk to line managers promptly. · Maintain/ update efficient and accurate information and distribute the team when required. Key Skills/Experience/Requirements: · Previous experience of working in a Planning or transportation role advantageous. · Excellent communication and customer service skills. · Proficient in Word, Excel and internet. · Pays close attention to detail. · Ability to build effective working relationships with internal/external stakeholders, whilst appreciating the need for maintaining confidentiality. · Good organisation skills with the ability to prioritise, show initiative and proactive.
