Overview

REED Property & Construction have a great opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager to join the Construction team of an award winning developer and house builder who work across the South Coast. It's a pivotal role within the business and you will be working with the Construction Director taking responsibility for the technical aspects required to bring forward a site from preliminary purchase to site build, through to site build completion. This will include cost management for the department for budget meetings and assist Construction Director and Commercial Team with all technical aspect arising during the construction phase. Key responsibilities - Provide Technical support and advice, within post holders remit and authority, on build ability of construction projects to key internal and external stakeholders, referring all matters outside authority to the Construction Director for decisions. Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external customers and external agencies. Liaise with the Construction Director so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs for operational development Report to the Construction Director timely and accurate reporting as requested by him, either on a regular or ad hoc basis Technical Services In conjunction with the Construction Director, assess and advise on SAPS, ensuring the fabric of the building is appropriate for site requirements. Responsible for ensuring that Social build projects achieve compliance with all regulations attributed to their build Advise and instruct, on behalf of the Construction Director on all Technical Construction Details including how projects are to be built, components and materials required to ensure a "standard” build. Liaise with external authorities such as the Police on “Secure by Design” (SBD) requirements, ensuring these requirements are complied with by Construction Management and are implemented in Project builds. Liaise with external authorities and Construction Management to ensure that projects meet “Considerate Constructors” accreditation, where projects require this standard. Ensure that best value is achieved by the engineering of design and products, liaising with the Commercial Department where necessary to ensure that appropriate materials are sourced. Check or have checked project drawings to Project/Site Managers. Answer technical queries from internal stakeholders including Project Managers/Site Managers and other Departments Liaise and forge good working relationships with assigned Architects, engineers, employer’s agents, building inspectors and other interested parties. Liaise with external service providers such as water, gas, electric, BT, Highways, Virgin Media and sewer provider companies to ensure services are provided in an appropriate. Manage direct team, instruct accordingly to carry out duties, arrange and generally oversee their workload and well being whilst at work. Qualifications & Skills - Professionally qualified and experienced in construction and/or engineering Experience of or City and Guilds qualification in Computer Aided Design (CAD) Relationship Management experience Quality Management Systems and their application Ability to problem solve and resolve issues effectively Strong Communication and Presentation Skills Ability to manage and deal with conflict / influential An all-round appreciation of the legal process pertaining to the construction industry
