An opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker, to become a valued team member at a service for adults with brain injuries, physical disabilities and autism in the York region. This Service provides support to service users to enable them to be more confident and independent, accessing a range of social activities and support with life skills. As a Support Worker, you will enable service users to live a lifestyle of their choice, focusing on their own goals and aspirations. There are lots of resources and facilities including social, sport and leisure located near to the service and the role of support worker includes encouraging the residents to access theses resources. This is a fantastic opportunity, for a caring support worker, to reap the reward of contributing to the Support Worker team and provide an excellent level of care to service users with autism and physical disabilities. This professional organisation is a charity that focuses upon person centred care for its service users and provides full training and ongoing support and progression for their Support Worker team. Welcomes Support Workers with a passion for providing the highest standard of care and enthusiasm to support service users in a range of activities. Support Worker Role : Support service users to develop confidence, skills and independence Provide support to service users with everyday tasks such as preparing and eating meals, personal care, attending appointments, budgeting shopping. To ensure person centred care is provided, care plans are followed and updated and CQC standards are met. Encouraging adults with physical disabilities and emotional issues to partake in social and community events, training, college, sport such as swimming, hobbies, day trips, short holidays, support in going to the cinema, theatre, meals in restaurants, pubs and social evenings. Skills / Qualifications : Ideally have NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate with residents, team members and other professionals such as social workers. Ability to listen and motivate adults with physical disabilities and emotional problems to partake in hobbies, learning development and social events to help them lead fulfilling and independent lives.
