Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Manager - Electronics based in Herefordshire to join a leading innovative engineering company that design a range of complex electronic instrumentation products that are sold all over the world. This Mechanical Design Manager - Electronics job will have full mechanical design responsibility and ownership of the process involved with the design of their electronic products. You will manage their current team of three mechanical design engineers. All of whom are experienced engineers. So, require fairly minimal management time. Due to this, and the team size, it is envisaged that the Mechanical Design Manager will take a hands-on approach within the team, by directly contributing to the design effort. They are open to someone in a Principal, Chief or Team Lead role, at present, who want to push into a more formal management role. As long as you've had some supervisory / team lead experience already. They are also open to someone who is in a none hands on management role now, who wants to get back into a position with a strong element of hands on design involved, provided you can hit the ground running on the hands on side. Key skills/experience required for the Mechanical Design Manager - Electronics role: Ideally, you'll have proven management experience, able to demonstrate your ability to lead a team to deliver complex products on time and in budget. Extensive experience in mechanical engineering design, ideally with some experience of a volume-based product. Solid knowledge of packaging electronics, EMC, Thermal etc. Their products go into harsh environments, so prior experience of this would be highly beneficial. Excellent 3D CAD design knowledge. They use Solidworks.
