Metrology Engineer
Overview
JOB PURPOSE: Primary role is to plan and coordinate the work within the department within the metrology department. It will also involve measuring components to ensure they are manufactured in accordance with the relative drawing. RESPONSIBILITIES: Take direct responsibility of Technicians as per the departmental Organisation Chart. Take responsibility for their daily work schedule, conduct their annual appraisals, monitor and maintain timekeeping, holiday requests to ensure sufficient cover. Perform return to work interviews and manage absenteeism Interface with internal departments on requirements timing and results Train and monitor measurement methods performed by others under your supervision Resolve issues with drawings and information required to perform measurement activities. Update departmental procedures (where necessary) and ensure that that they are being adhered to. Undertake dimensional verification in an approved sequence as directed by the supervisor. Issues reasoned reports with supporting data/evidence, in an approved format, which are updated daily during testing, are easily retrievable and take into account product liability concerns Ensures departmental equipment is checked to ensure it is operating correctly and to report any defects promptly Complies with the Health and Safety policy and observes all safety rules. Ensuring your personal safety and the safety of others Ensure that the department is compliant to IATF16949 (including but not exclusively the scheduling, monitoring and completion of layout plans.) Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Laboratory Manager. The ideal candidate will be computer competent, have a strong understanding of engineering principles including metrology and measurement techniques, previous experience in 3d scanning or CMM equipment, working with PCDMIS software, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and a good attention to detail.
