Overview

Experienced Innovation Leads required to join UKRI working on the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. (Field-based, with frequent UK travel). UK Government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) is a 4.7 billion pound investment fund within Innovate UK which aims to bring together our world-leading research base with Britain’s best businesses to transform how we live, work and move around. By investing in the very best research, development and innovation, it will tackle the major industrial and societal challenges we face today and put the UK in the best position to take advantage of future market opportunities. Your new role As an Innovation Lead you will operate within one of the 22 Programmes which make up the UKRI Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF). You will be responsible for Innovate UK activity in X and for ensuring appropriate innovations can be developed and exploited by UK business to generate growth and in response to industrial challenges and commercial opportunities. Currently we are recruiting for the following programmes: Audience of the Future Healthy Ageing Faraday Battery Challenge In addition to the above some of the key responsibilities and accountabilities are as follows: Contribute to the development and promotion of the Innovate UK strategy in one of the above challenges, based on a good understanding of relevant industries and technologies and wider innovation infrastructure. Represent Innovate UK and UKRI at events (such as conferences, meetings, workshops) and in the media as appropriate. Lead on the implementation of the strategy to enable industry to develop and commercialise new products, processes, business models and services. Build strong relationships with relevant bodies and networks such as businesses, trade associations, Catapults, government departments and agencies, private investors, regulatory bodies and research organisations. What you'll need to succeed You will be degree educated, a self-starter with strong commercial, stakeholder and programme management awareness who can manage competing priorities and a complex stakeholder environment. Having knowledge and experience of innovation in a commercial environment alongside familiarity with the wider research environment is essential. In addition to this you’ll earn between £38,318 - £55,000 per annum, (plus bonus), with 40.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays and have access to an amazing pension scheme. This role is being offered on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund it will be field based with 1 to 2 days per week working in either the UKRI offices in London or Swindon, 1 to 2 days per week working from home and may involve some UK based travel attending meetings / conferences / workshops.
