Overview

Your new organisation Southend Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. The ICT department are currently going through a transformation and modernisation journey to achieve the 2050 vision of transforming Southend into a Smart City. The ICT function is at the centre of delivering new and innovative services to both the residents and visitors of the Borough. The Council are transforming to a new, future proofed ICT organisation which will offer improved quality of business and IT engagement with colleagues and customers. The ICT department aim to be customer centric, agile in delivery and viewed as Trusted advisors providing thought leadership and design thinking. To achieve this the Council are looking to appoint a highly experienced, ambitious, articulate and driven IT Project Manager to lead on critical projects supporting the Council in achieving the 2050 vision by transforming the delivery of services to Southend’s residents and visitors. Your new role Within this role you will manage the lifecycle of projects from start up through to closure in accordance to agreed standards. You will proactively develop strong relations with the key stakeholders and project board members to deliver major projects and drive high performance from your team. An essential part of this role will require you to have the ability to manage resources in a matrix environment, coordinate and motivate others. The successful delivery of the projects is dependent on your ability to manage smooth transition of projects into operational business. This can be achieved by ensuring projects reflect corporate strategic aims and priorities, deliver benefits and identify potential impacts for the council. As a natural leader you will be required in this position to lead at all stages of the project development plans, this will range from the overall project plan to test plans to implementation plans. If you have a proven track record of delivering results by aligning project plans to project objectives within a set timeframe and budget, then this is the role for you What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this position you will have to be confident in delivering projects across IT infrastructure, applications and business change while managing the expectations and requirements of external and internal stakeholders. You will have excellent MS Project Skills and the ability to create robust project schedules. You have proven that you are creative and innovative in producing business relevant solutions. You must have experience in managing 3rd party providers and managing contractors within your IT career. What you'll get in return Offering a competitive salary starting from £44,632.
