Market-leading growth in our Financial Services Indirect Tax (VAT) team has created an opportunity for a strong VAT tax professional, at Advisor level, to join the team. You will be able to own and lead projects, develop indirect tax technology offerings and work with the management and leadership team to further identify business opportunities. The work is technically challenging, creative and requires you to work closely with our clients’ businesses. The opportunity This is a period of unprecedented change in the tax arena, which is resulting in huge demand for delivery of a wide range of Indirect Tax operational advisory services including review of client operating models; process & control recommendations; indirect tax technology offerings and risk advisory services. We are looking for an individual to provide VAT technical input into the delivery of technology solutions working and to provide advice to some of the largest FS clients on the practical implementation of VAT. Your key responsibilities Enthusiastic manager with ability to create, sustain and lead effective teams Ensure delivery of quality work and take day to day leadership of delivery team Help people to develop through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff Contribute to people initiatives, including retaining and training international tax professionals Significant involvement in the management of the team both in terms of strategy and operations and also through managing junior staff development and assignment Skills and attributes for success Build and maintain tax relationships with clients and provide exceptional levels of client service Negotiation skills, able to sustain opinion and handle challenges Business development skills - able to identify and convert opportunities by proactively managing existing client relationships and winning new clients High level management of the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical / business driven approach taken Overall responsibility of quality of client service Manage possible leads from other areas of the practice Build networks and relationships internally and externally for the team to leverage from Contribute to successfully extracting maximum value for both EY and clients from the tax services delivered whilst managing risk appropriately for both client and the firm To qualify for the role you must have ACA/ACCA/CA; or Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course; or Law qualification. CTA (or breadth of knowledge equivalent to CTA) Project management skills, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget. Ability to build strong client relationships and commercially aware. Negotiation skills, able to sustain opinion and handle challenges Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work Strong practical and commercial experience having advised clients, or worked ‘in-house’ Effective time management, ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet deadlines Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral Enthusiastic team player with ability to create, sustain and lead effective teams Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral. What we look for Enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work Highly experienced tax practitioner with reviewing skills and expertise in operational processes and the use of technology in the area of VAT risk management area Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral Experience of VAT compliance, having either worked ‘in-house’ or on secondment Experience working within Financial Services is preferable but NOT essential The types of project you’ll contribute towards may include: Expansion into new markets Organisational structure rationalisation Business model redesign Managing the risk arising from global law changes Developments in indirect technologies and determining solutions to fit individual client requirements Development of new technology enabled solutions, working in conjunction with our Tax technology colleagues End to end VAT process reviews to identify potential risk, and develop a target operating mode What working at EY offers EY is committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.
