Overview

11 women die every day from ovarian cancer and survival rates in the UK are among the worst in Europe. Enough is enough. It’s time to TAKE OVAR. Join us to raise awareness, fund research and save lives. Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity. We work to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much-needed support to women with ovarian cancer. We are the authority on ovarian cancer. We work with women, family members and health professionals to ensure we target the areas that matter most for those living and working with ovarian cancer. Together with the ovarian cancer community, we are transforming the futures of more than 25,000 women in the UK who are living with ovarian cancer and thousands more who are yet to be diagnosed. But there is so much more to do. We will not stop until we have achieved our goal of doubling survival from ovarian cancer by 2050. We are seeking an energetic and innovative Director of Programmes to make a substantial difference to the survival and wellbeing of women with ovarian cancer. This is an exciting new role for the charity, and a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to join a dynamic and talented team in a fast-growing high-impact organisation, leading our expanding portfolio of charitable programmes as we roll out our bold and ambitious plans to transform the future for women with ovarian cancer. You will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight to improve early diagnosis, find new treatments, and provide support for women with ovarian cancer. Programmes specifically include our unique award-winning portfolio of supportive services, primary care, and medical research as well as our high profile influencing, policy and campaigns work. You will have an in-depth knowledge of the health sector, extensive experience at a senior level, experience of using technology to engage communities, and a proven track record of transforming health outcomes. You are a strategic thinker with excellent leadership, influencing and communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with a wider range of stakeholders. You are also a collaborator by instinct, working in an integrated way to achieve cross-team objectives, for example income generation. We are pioneering, empowering, expert, impactful, supportive, and passionate about achieving a real impact for ovarian women. These are our values, and we are seeking a values-based leader to drive change at a very exciting time in the charity’s development.
