Job Description
UBT provides services and products to approximately 3,000 independent, family-owned businesses globally with combined annual revenues exceeding $12B (AUD). In the UK there are approximately 1000 businesses which are small to medium sized enterprises with typical annual revenue ranges between 3m-25m. However, there are also some much larger businesses with annual revenues significantly higher. UBTs offering comprises business advice, corporate training, consulting, recruitment, accounting, and group buying services. A number of these SME businesses require strategic financial direction. On many occasions they do not require a full time resource but would benefit from a professional financial director to support them on a part time or ad hoc basis. Requirements As UBT is a trusted partner to these businesses, this role would be to assist clients directors and shareholders in the design and implementation of longer term strategic and short-term business plans. Additionally, the role would be to provide strategic financial support to UBT on internal business projects and assist with development and execution of new financial services, for example, profit shar4e. In essence, this is not dissimilar to working as a professional contractor but with ready-made clients. Key Duties and Responsibilities * Assist the Directors and shareholders of client businesses in the design and implementation of longer term strategic and short-term business plans * Assist clients with exit strategies, strategic funding, internal systems, reporting, profit improvement, cash-flow management, compliance reporting and banking relationships * Business partnering closely with the MDs and other senior client stakeholders to ensure the businesses hits their respective strategic milestones * You will challenge assumptions and decision-making as appropriate, providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers. * Ensure that the financial risks facing client businesses are well understood and effectively mitigated * Providing strategic financial direction on internal UBT projects, for example due diligence for strategic business investments and profit-sharing arrangements * Support the Business Advisory function as necessary, for example, review of client financial information submitted prior to business consultations The person * Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CFA) * Strong Accounting Systems knowledge and advanced Excel Skills. * Demonstrable experience of working in high growth B2B environments * Ability to work at all levels across multi disciplines. * Excellent communication skills with meticulous attention to detail and organisational skills. * Has worked at Board level, is strategic, forward looking, commercial and change driven. * Knowledge of current tax and legal matters and access to specialist networks as appropriate * May also have CEO, MD, Ops Director, Business Owner experience * Uses information, teamwork and influencing skills to drive business performance. * Ideally experienced in both Corporate and SME environments * Strong leadership and people development skills - Builds relationships with clients and wants to help business leaders to achieve their goals. * Ability to identify growth areas.
