Launched in April 2013, Fire Tech is the UKs leading provider of tech camps for 9-17 year olds. Fire Techs mission is to get young people creating and innovating using technology. Students design, experiment, look for feedback from peers and tutors, iterate, and pivot when necessary all skills that we believe will be crucial for todays students to become creative, resilient, adaptable adults. Fire Tech is looking for some enthusiastic Program Leaders with experience working with children to join the team to help lead our courses and camps during the mid term breaks and/or summer! Ideal candidates will have a Youth Program, Scout Leader or formal Teaching/Assistant teaching background, and be able to leverage their experience to ensure all students and staff are safe, learning and having a great time at our courses! No specific tech/programming knowledge is required (we have our tutors for that), however the ability to problem solve and a passion for creating an inspiring learning environment for children, is! Program Leaders are responsible for leading our Camp Tutor Team , making sure that they are achieving their daily and weekly goals, helping them with pacing and positive daily wrap ups, backstopping them for technical issues (like wifi/projector issues) and helping them work with students encountering difficulties. Program Leaders will also provide feedback to Camp Tutors during and after the Camp, make sure that they are providing adequate structure for their students, and make sure that they complete all of their projects & get them ready for their end of week presentation for the parents. Program Leaders will kick off and wrap up each day at camp, and will set the tone for a fun, constructive, respectful environment for all Campers and Tutors. Program Leaders will liaise with parents who want to better understand the pedagogy of the course and will build confidence in the non-traditional, creativity-based work process. Responsibilities * Use and reinforce Fire Techs teaching curricula, supporting student Camp Tutors when necessary and checking that they are meeting their goals in a constructive and fun environment * Be aware of students with special needs emotional, behavioural, social, academic or physical and be sure that those students are being supported appropriately * Be the dedicated Paediatric First Aid Officer on site (Fire Tech can provide this training) & know where allergy kits and first aid kits are at all times * Backstop Camp Tutors with any behavioural issues that come up and escalate through procedures if necessary * Remind students of rules and guidelines throughout in a respectful and engaging way (while setting clear boundaries) * Maintain accident/incident reports (with Fire Tech HQ) * Provide feedback to Camp Tutors at the end of each day as to what you observe going well, or needing improvement and monitoring groups progress each day. * Be ready to provide feedback to parents on their childrens progress (or be able to call in Camp Tutor with more specific info) * Make sure Camp Tutors are prepared to share work with parents on Friday afternoons * Take part in pre-camp training and post-camp feedback * Support Fire Tech HQ in finding speakers and outings for off-core activities. * Support Camp Tutors in carrying out sports and other non-academic off-core activities (camp games, sports, etc.) * Assist with pre-camp set up, post camp tear down and daily set up and tidy up. * End of summer evaluations for Camp Tutors, Fire Tech HQ, and any other helpful feedback * Be the Child Safeguarding officer on site, ensuring all Ofsted requirements are met with support from HQ * And most importantly- create a fun & positive experience for all (yourself included)! Requirements * Substantial experience working with students 9-17 (Youth Program work/Formal teaching/Assistant Teaching/Scout Leadership etc) * Bachelor's degree minimum (for Ofsted purposes) * High energy, enthusiasm and ability to bring the fun to camp * Excellent communication skills to liaise with all stakeholders (students, tutors, parents & HQ Management) * Availability during summer and school holidays(work also avail on weekends) * References, Enhanced DBS required, Paediatric First Aid, Level 2 Safeguarding Certification minimum (all can be obtained through Fire Tech) * Sense of humour and do whatever it takes attitude! Time Requirements: * Mid term break and/or Summer (Feb/April/July/Aug/Oct/Dec work avail) * Sunday afternoon or evening set up prior to camp (paid) * Pre-camp training day (on a Saturday generally- not paid) and post-camp evaluations * Mon Thurs 8 am to 5.30 pm * Friday 8 am to approx 6.30/7pm (time to turn in equipment) * Possible involvement in local workshops on weekends or other school holidays on request if you are available Benefits * Compensation depends on the size of camp, locati
