Through organizations like the Telecom Infra Project (www.telecominfraproject.com ( and through direct engagement with individual operators around the world, the team collaborates globally with the telecom industry to identify and execute a range of connectivity programs. If you have passion for working with operators, ISPs, technology vendors and other industry stakeholders to drive innovative, cutting edge, cost efficient wireless and network infrastructure projects that will deliver internet access to the unconnected while significantly scaling current networks - then this is a great role for you. As a Connectivity Technologies and Ecosystems Manager you will work closely with the Facebook Connectivity team and TIP ecosystem members to develop telecom infrastructure. In parallel, you will interface with industry leading technology partners, including hardware/software vendors and systems solution providers. Finally, you will work closely with network operators adopting the telecom infrastructure to understand how Facebook and its partners' contributions can be of most impact to this diverse ecosystem. This position is full-time and is based in London. **Required Skills:** 1. A technical expert who questions the status quo and uses their strategic vision for the connectivity technology landscape to shape Facebook's efforts in IP, Optical, Microwave and any other networking/backhaul technologies. Ultimately they will enable infrastructure solutions with the network operator community and drive deployments across the industry at large. 2. Define cutting edge network deployment approaches and plan operator trials for innovative infrastructure solutions that will help deliver on the vision for wider scale telecom infrastructure adoption. 3. Advocate internally at Facebook, through the Telecom Infrastructure Project (TIP), and the partner community at large on how to maximize opportunities to successfully deploy new hardware and software contributions across the industry. 4. Manage the technical relationships with network operator and infrastructure partners to help reduce friction and remove obstacles facing networking hardware/software contribution and market adoption. 5. Identify key use cases and common technical requirements from operator partners to drive design parameters within Facebook programs and the technology vendor community. 6. Educate the Facebook Connectivity team about how to contribute to TIP, highlight achievements/impact of contributions and share developments coming from partners. 7. Write white papers, blog posts and technical materials to share with the broader community with the goal to introduce and help drive adoption of TIP infrastructure solutions. 8. Stay abreast of developments in the networking domain including technology R&D, use-cases, hardware/software evolution and share that knowledge with the team. 9. Support the direction and expansion of the team, helping to scope future roles as the charter of the team grows. **Minimum Qualifications:** 10. Previous experience as a manager, as a technical lead or as an engineer in R&D, technical marketing, solutions architecture, technology strategy, product management, product engineering or consultancy services in areas related to networking (IP, Optical, Microwave, Mobile Access Networks, Fixed Access Networks, etc). 11. Firm understanding of backhaul architectures in cellular or fixed access networks and the relevant network design trade-offs and common deployment and operational challenges. 12. Firm understanding of the IP, Optical or Microwave networking industry, current vendor landscape, use cases and business models. **Preferred Qualifications:** 13. Good understanding of relevant network protocols and specifications (TCP/IP, Layer-3 Routing, Layer-2 switching, etc). 14. Good understanding of fiber-optic technologies: optical transponders, converged packet/optical solutions, ROADMs, line systems, fiber cables, connectors, pluggable modules, etc. 15.
