GUY'S AND ST. THOMAS' HOSPITAL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST Paediatric Cardiology Speciality Doctor in Congenital Cardiac MRI and CT Salary - 40,037 to 74,661 p.a Excl LZ Fixed Term - 1 year Full Time - 47 hours per week This is an exciting opportunity to develop skills in congenital cardiac MRI and CT and gain clinical experience in a high volume cardiac surgical centre. Whilst not a formal training post, the post holder will perform the same role as those in training posts but would ideally suit someone who has completed their core training in paediatric cardiology and hold a CCT. Training will be clinically orientated and will allow the appointee to see a wide spectrum of congenital heart defects and improve their clinical skills. There is no fixed research activity within the post, however involvement in existing research projects or participation in clinical audit is encouraged. The post holder will be expected to participate in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, contribute to the training and support of doctors in training. The appointment is a fixed term for 1 year to start in September 2020 There is a possibility that the post could be extended beyond this, depending upon staffing levels. Both hospitals have built on these traditions and continue to have a reputation for excellence and innovation Evelina London Children's Healthcare Evelina London Children's Healthcare (ELCH) brings together Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust's (GSTT) services for children in both our state of the art hospital and community services within Lambeth and Southwark. We have an annual turnover of 170 million and over 2,000 staff. ELCH is the second largest provider of acute (hospital) children's services in London. We provide children's hospital services (secondary acute services) to the local area and an almost comprehensive portfolio of tertiary services (we take referrals from other healthcare organisations such as local or district hospitals) to south London and south east England. Department of Congenital Heart Disease The Department of Congenital Heart Disease, sits within the directorate of Paediatric Surgical Service and PICU. The department has the benefit of being co-located on the St Thomas's site with fetal, neonatal and adult facilities, allowing for access to a full range of services across all age groups. There is a close working relationship with Division of Imaging Sciences at Kings College London, with some academic consultants having joint NHS and University appointments and supervising research fellows and their projects. The paediatric cardiology department provides cardiac services for children from birth to the age of 16 across most of South London, Kent, Sussex, Surrey and other areas such as West Suffolk. Approximately 500 surgeries are performed yearly including approximately 100 neonatal surgeries and 70 adult congenital. Approximately 390 cardiac catheter procedures are undertaken annually. The department has an international reputation for excellence and innovation in many fields including fetal cardiology, congenital intervention, echocardiography and cardiac MRI.
